Ms. Armstrong
Welcome to 1st Grade! I am Miss Armstrong and I am so excited that you are in my Crew!
I became a part of the Niagara Charter family in 2017 as a 1st Grade Associate Teacher, then I became a Kindergarten Associate Teacher, then a Building-Based Substitute Teacher on the Kindergarten Team, and I have come full circle back to 1st Grade.
I graduated from the University of Central Florida with a Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Development and Education in 2017 and have furthered my specialty in the primary grades with a Master’s Degree in Early Childhood Education from SUNY Albany in 2020.
When I am not doing my favorite thing in the world (teaching!), I love to spend time with my family and my cat, make crafts, and chat with my friends in Florida.
We are going to have so much fun together this school year! In 1st Grade, students continue to become stronger readers and writers and learn countless new words that they can read and write in a snap! In Math, students will be learning addition, subtraction, place value, measuring and partitioning shapes. We will also focus on 3 Expeditions: Tools and Work, The Sun, Moon and Stars, and Growing as Researchers: Birds’ Amazing Bodies.
Our CREW will foster a growth mindset as we learn, remembering that our classroom is a safe place to make mistakes and that we learn from them. Progress over perfection! We will support each other and be excited for one another’s achievements and efforts.
